Raymond Fortier, 24, who was recently living in Portland, according to court documents, was sentenced to 18 years in prison with all but nine years suspended and six years probation last Thursday, Aug. 26, in York County Superior Court. Fortier had entered a guilty plea and the sentence was a result of a plea agreement.
Fortier was indicted by a York County grand jury on a single count of Class A arson in June 2009 for allegedly setting fire to the multifamily apartment building. The Jan. 6, 2009, fire forced 14 residents to flee the building in the early morning hours with only the clothes on their backs. Residents in nearby buildings had to be evacuated as the wind threatened to spread the blaze. Two apartments in the back of the Mill Street building were destroyed by the fire and the two apartments at the front had heavy smoke and water damage.THIS IS NOT MEANT AS AN ACCUSATION IT IS ONLY FOR DISCUSSION

Could Trista have gone to Waterville with someone say at around 2 or 3 am that morning? Then returned to the motel in time to meet Mr.Fortier? Could that explain why she was so tired and asleep when Ron called?
If as stated it was just an innocent visit by Trista what is the harm in explaining it, what went down and why. We know that the distance from the airport in Portland is around 230 miles. We also know that the trip will take approximately four hours.
If you take the I295 N route to I95 N you pass through Waterville this is the least stop and go traffic and faster route. 29 Violette Ave is approximately 77 miles from the airport and an hour and fifteen minutes from the airport in Portland.
Is this the route that was taken? I don't know if Trista or Fortier have said publicly.
There is also a route where you exit at Augusta and take Route 3 to Machiasport this would
bypass Waterville but take longer because of stop and go traffic through the city of Augusta and lower speed limits. Was this route taken again I don't know if Trista or Fortier have said publicly. There is another longer and more scenic route with stop and go traffic and little costal towns you pass through. This is U.S. Route 1 the coastal route North. It doesn't take you near Waterville. Is this the route Trista and Fortier took? Again I don't know if they have said publicly.
What time and from what location did Trista and Fortier leave to make their visit?
I know there are a lot of questions a person may have about this trip, hopefully they will be
answered here.
The two hour road trip to Portland before the 911 call which didn't happen was discussed extensively. It still is in articles today never retracted -- WHY!?

Yes, yes I do. If you factor in the time, if you believe Trista's story, she was passing by Waterville at almost the same time as Justin was making his 911 call.

LE would have asked Justin for Trista's phone number right away, and if she didn't pick up, why wouldn't they assume it was her and issue a bolo? It sounds like that is just what they did, showing up at Ron's like that...

Second, The story as it was told put them nearing Ellsworth and had them turning around to head back to Waterville at Duncan Donuts ! Duncan Donuts is located at the Mill Mall on Outer State Street Ellsworth Me. Fortier drove right past the State Police Office which was on his right 2 miles before Duncan Donuts ! He passed it Twice !!! I do not think I can forgive that an Amber Alert was not put out for Ayla !!! I beleive an Amber Alert would have had Trista and Fortier stopped, and directed to proceed to that State Police Station ! Were talking about a missing child, There should have been no delay in stopping them !!!!
ReplyDeleteExactly Elaine. If Justin suspected Trista, he would have told the officers that straight off, and they would have then issued an Amber Alert, as soon as they identified the vehicle. The fact they didn't, and the fact they did an immediate ground search combined with the 911 calls where Justin never mentions Trista leads me to believe Justin never accused her, and may have even minimized her involvement, or failed to give LE the correct information (if Justin had Trista's phone number, why did it take her father to reach her?) Also, if LE had Trista's phone number, couldn't they have found her quickly with GPS?

DeleteI do have one thing that is not about the Machiasport trip. A true advocate for Ayla is one that does not take family sides but one that wants answers from both sides. I have never said I didn't suspect Justin or tied to get people to stop questioning him.

Trista spoke to ron on fortiers phone ! That leaves me to beleive that the dipietros gave the police Tristas name and rons name ! Maybe Rons address ! The officer first asked Ron Wheres Ayla ! Does that mean Justin suspect Ron ?

LE said she didn't leave on her own, I believe that is a true statement. They left no wiggle room on that point so she left with someone.
Dana B. I too believe Ayla could still be alive. IMO if the blood evidence (or any real evidence for that matter) were fact, there would have been arrests. I can't believe LE would sit on such evidence. If they are then there is something terribly wrong in Maine. It has always been my feeling that someone made sure Ayla was safe......somewhere away from the chaos and dysfunction. If thats the case then someone put the love for Ayla above personal persecution. But that may just be a delusion I choose to believe because the alternative is just to harsh to accept.

No, Ayla didn't leave on her own, that's certain. Who took or removed Ayla, or where she could be, ..? L.E. hasn't determined that in over 3 years, and sadly I don't feel like they are going to.
I think it's going to be a member of the public who sees her, or comes across the information that leads to finding her.
It's important that people keep talking about Ayla, and fliers of her be distributed everywhere.
